Designing for older users is an important aspect of accessibility. However, sometimes their needs are assumed to be the same as those of users with disabilities. In reality, the challenges that older users face are very different. For example, a single older user may have several less severe disabilities, such as low-vision and arthritis. Also their disabilities may constantly be progressing. For these reasons, many authors advocate focusing specifically on the needs of older adults.
