This article describes the findings of a study focusing on the positive and negative computer experiences of 10 older adults. The study concentrated on users who were new to computers. The study identifies several problems in text editing, terminology, and understanding the structure of the Web, as well as general usability problems. The authors conclude that training and support are necessary to encourage the use of computers among the elderly. In addition, the authors propose a new interface for search engines.
